Deanne Cevasco is Of Counsel in the firm’s intellectual property (“IP”) and litigation practices.  Deanne has over fifteen (15) years’ experience in IP litigation and counseling, including advising corporate and nonprofit clients on IP strategy and assisting them in a variety of IP transactions.

Deanne’s litigation experience includes patent, trademark and/or copyright infringement disputes, trade secret misappropriation matters, licensing disputes, Anti-Counterfeiting matters, other brand protection matters, and various other commercial disputes including breach of contract, antitrust and securities cases.  She has worked on IP and commercial litigation matters in federal courts across the nation, as well as in domestic and international arbitration including in the American Arbitration Association and International Chamber of Commerce.

Deanne also advises clients on their IP strategy to ensure that their IP and other intangible assets such as data rights are sufficiently protected and effectively monetized.  Deanne has substantial experience assisting clients in IP transactions, reviewing and drafting agreements such as IP and software licenses, IP asset purchase agreements, sponsored research agreements, and assignment agreements, among others.  Deanne also has significant experience conducting IP portfolio analysis, as well as in IP due diligence in a variety of types of transactions. She has also assisted patent attorney colleagues in conducting IP clearance analyses and preparing “freedom to operate” opinions.

Deanne has worked with clients in a variety of industries including biotech, medical devices, pharmaceutical, software, semiconductors, industrial chemical, mobile communications, computer networking, fintech, digital imaging, research institutions, toys and other consumer products, and fine art, among others.

Deanne has a BS in Biology and a MS in Molecular Biology and worked as a molecular biologist performing laboratory research at Cornell University prior to attending law school.  Her work was the subject of a research article, Cathepsin B Homologue at the Interface between a Parasitic Nematode and Its Intermediate Host, published in the American Society for Microbiology Infection and Immunity Journal, Vol. 74, No. 2, on February 1, 2006. Prior to joining ND Galli Law, Deanne spent over a decade in Big Law and, most recently, with a boutique firm based in California.
